Bucket list before your wedding
Twelve things to do before getting married — a few just for you, a few for the two of you, and a few that make the wedding season itself worth remembering.
The months before a wedding fill up fast with venues, guest lists and seating charts. It's easy to arrive at the big day feeling like you spent a year on logistics. A bucket list before your wedding is the antidote: a short list of things you actually want to live through while this chapter is still open.
Some of the ideas below are about you as a person, before "I" quietly becomes "we". Some are for both of you, and some are about the people who'll be in the room when you say yes. Pick the ones that feel right, ignore the rest, and add your own.
Just you, before it becomes "we"
-
1 Take a trip on your own
Even three days alone in a city you've never seen is enough. You'll learn how you like to spend a day when nobody else is deciding, and you'll bring that back into the marriage.
-
2 Learn a new language
Start the language of the place you dream of honeymooning, or the one your partner's family speaks at the dinner table. Being able to say a full toast in it on the day is a small, unforgettable gift.
-
3 Run a half-marathon
Not to look a certain way in the photos, but because training gives the busiest year of your life a calm, steady rhythm. Crossing a finish line weeks before the aisle is a confidence boost nobody can plan for you.
-
4 Write a letter to your future self
Write down who you are right now: what scares you, what you hope your marriage feels like in ten years. Seal it and set a reminder to open it on your tenth anniversary.
Together, before the big day
-
5 Take a cooking class together
Learning something side by side, where neither of you is the expert, shows you how you work as a team. Sushi, pasta or bread — the meal at the end is the easy part.

6 Learn your first dance properly
Book a few real lessons instead of swaying for three minutes. Practising in the kitchen at night becomes its own memory, long before the guests see it.
-
7 Ride a hot-air balloon
Sunrise over Cappadocia or Luxor, or a quiet balloon flight closer to home. Floating in silence for an hour is the opposite of wedding planning, which is exactly the point.

8 Scout your honeymoon with a sunset
If the honeymoon is still a debate, settle it with one perfect evening: white cliffs, the Aegean and nothing on the schedule. If you've already booked it, add this one for the first anniversary.
-
9 Host a dinner for your closest friends
Before the wedding turns them into guests, gather the people who will stand next to you. Cook, set a long table and tell them why they matter.
Wedding-season moments to keep

10 Record your grandparent's story
Sit down with a grandparent and record how they met, what their own wedding day was like and what they'd tell you now. These are the stories that disappear if nobody asks.

11 Cook your grandma's recipes
Learn the dish that shows up at every family celebration and write the recipe down in your own handwriting. It might even end up on the wedding menu.
-
12 Write your vows somewhere quiet
Not the night before. Take a notebook to a bench, a beach or a café, weeks ahead, and give the most important words of the day the time they deserve.
Keep it, don't just tick it
A bucket list is easy to write and easy to forget. DoBefore keeps it where you'll see it, lets you tick ideas off with a tap, and turns each one into a memory with photos, the place, how it felt and a few lines of reflection. Years from now you won't just know that you did it — you'll remember what it was like.
When the day comes, the list doesn't end — it just becomes the first page of a shared one. Couples often start a joint list on the honeymoon: the places, skills and small rituals they want to collect together over the years.
